Eagle 599AT Package

Summary:

TEN-TEC has created a 100 watt transceiver combining simplified controls and ease of operation with the excellent performance of a low first IF 160-through 6-meter ham-band architecture in a compact, mobile-friendly structure. model599-sm2.jpgThe analog portion of the radio is double conversion with IF frequencies of 9.0015 MHz and 22.5 kHz. A third conversion to zero-frequency IF is accomplished in the DSP processor.

Information:

The TEN-TEC Model 599AT Eagle signifies strength born from DSP technology in HF design. Listening to input from Ham radio operators from around the world led our team of engineers to a remarkable compact yet high performance transceiver that Hams of all ages and skill levels will find a joy to operate.

The large easy to read display can be conveniently configured with your favorite background color and intensity, making your Eagle a pleasure to use as a base, portable, or mobile radio. Flexibility also extends to the Eagle with TEN-TEC’s Sensitune automatic antenna tuner, noise
canceling circuitry, and of course TEN-TEC’s famous selective roofing filters.

The TEN-TEC Eagle will truly provide years of outstanding performance unequaled by any other radio in its size or price class. You can be assured the Eagle offers more receiver horsepower with new DSP based architecture, Selectable Roofing filters, noise reduction, antenna tuner, and of course TEN-TEC’s legendary QSK keying. A tribute to American ingenuity makes the Eagle a radio you can be proud to show your fellow Ham radio operators.

Whether you are a seasoned contester, DX chaser, net operator or a casual operator, the TEN-TEC Eagle has the performance and convenience that will provide years of operating enjoyment!

  • Unlike any other radio in this price class the Eagle offers a combination of DSP and selectable roofing filter options to tailor our listening pleasure. Unlike most transceivers in this price class, TEN-TEC’s unique crystal ladder filters help eliminate undesirable signals from entering the receivers first IF stage making a more enjoyable listening experience even in crowded band conditions.
  • A TEN-TEC first: A user selectable color display which can be tailored to your favorite color and intensity. Different operating environments have varied lighting conditions so why not tailor your radio to meet those needs?
  • You never have to worry about hearing the weak ones with the fully
adjustable DSP noise reduction system used in the Eagle. Eliminating
atmospheric band noise is just a push of the button!
  • Tired of noise blankers that seldom work in a mobile environment?
TEN-TEC’s unique model 320 optional noise blanker will cancel noise you thought never would be possible.
  • Eagle covers 10 HF amateur bands plus 6 meters along with general
coverage receive. Dual VFO’s with SPLIT mode and 100 memories, passband tuning, adjustable AGC, variable CW offset, RIT, built in
CTCSS tones for 6 meter FM and TEN-TEC’s legendary silky-smooth QSK
for CW and fast switching digital modes. These features add up to one
    terrific radio!

  1. Eagle was the best radio for me...

    Posted by K4BHR on 12th Feb 2015

I took a trip to Ten Tec before I bought my radio. They made me feel at home and took me into the radio room and let me play with all of their radios, after two hours I made my decision to buy the Eagle. Easy to use and I like the size and looks. The VII is nice but I kept going back to the Eagle for it's receive over the VII...

  2. Buy American Quality!

Posted by Bob Kagel KM4DIS on 27th Jan 2015

I got what I expected, great radio, straight forward easy to use and great reports from the other end.

  3. Eagle flies!

Posted by Don on 26th Jan 2015

I recently acquired a Ten Tec Eagle. I intend for it to be one of the radios in a SO2R setup.
I find the receiver to be superb and the QSK operation flawless.
I wish there was a separate receive port, and I don't like several desirable features to be available only on a DIN socket.
Nevertheless, this is a beautifully-performing bargain.

  4. Great little radio

Posted by Paul Calvert on 4th Jan 2015

Great receiver and noise reduction. Also like the easy to use manual.

  5. Best Radio in the Shack

Posted by Hal on 29th Dec 2014

Outstanding audio. Very low noise floor when using the RF gain control. I think the RF gain control is the essential part of this radio. By turning the gain back the noise floor is reduced, thus increasing the s/n ratio. Signals become much more intelligible. Excellent sensitivity as well. It's also a good Shortwave receiver, for someone interested in SWL. I highly recommend it.

  6. Eagle, quiet receiver--plus great features

Posted by David Wank on 29th Dec 2014

I have had Ten Tec radios in the past and I am glad to be back, with an Eagle,a nice simple, easy to use radio, for my favorite mode,CW.

  7. The Eagle flies high

    Posted by W3BRF on 19th Dec 2014

Received my package (with tuner, noise blanker, & filter included) on Friday, 12 December. It is certainly the most intuitive modern rig I have owned. Have borrowed some ICOMS (765, etc.) and Yaesu's in the past. Everything operates with the push of a button and the spinning of a dial. If you do not have the hand-eye coordination to work these simple controls, you shouldn't be operating electrical equipment; nor should you be driving on public roads in a motor vehicle!
My Ten Tec rigs have included 544 (1980's), 509 and 574 (2014), all previously owned, and now, this new one. Residing in a restricted area, I operate 99.9% CW. Output power is as advertised--you will need a 25 amp 100% duty cycle power supply, such as an Astron RS-35. The display is legible and contrast/color is variable. Anderson powerpole connectors on the rear, USB port, plus two (2) 12V out auxilary RCA jacks for keyer, etc. However, you don't need a keyer because one is integral. Tuner is auto if needed. Split VFO's and RIT. Pre-amp on rx. Mic compressor adjustable. DSP noise reduction is in there, as is noise blanker. Oh yeah, it has 100 memories. Look at the specs: http://www.rfconcepts.com/TEN-TEC-599AT-Eagle-Specifications.
Here's the most important thing: Once you become comfortable with the interactive settings of the RF/AF gain, Bandwidth and Pass-Band tunings, and AGC, you will use this rig as intended--amazing copy of weak signals, even next to strong ones as in a contest. I find myself cranking down the RF gain alot!!
So, as you can tell, I give this radio high marks, and give Ten Tec kudos for listening to customer requests. BTW, when calling the factory you WILL speak to a human right away.

  8. Exceeds what I expected and I expected a fine radio

Posted by Doug Stevens KK4PLS on 18th Dec 2014

Extremely sensitive with good dsp and fine filters.
Controls are simple and easy to operate. I particularly like the size and stability. Feels rock solid.

  9. Outstanding for the price

Posted by Frank Halas W4RBW on 9th Dec 2014

Recently received my new Eagle 599AT Get unit was very surprised how quiet the receiver is. found that the auto tuner works very nicely with my antenna (Cobra Ultra lite Jr.) its a real pleasure to operate and by reading the manual that comes with the unit, you'll be on the air within 30 minutes it's that easy. Great unit for working out in the field. Buy this unit while it is being sold at this low price. Big bang for your buck..

  10. Meets My High Expectations

Posted by Charles, AI4UN on 27th Oct 2014

This radio replaces an Omni-D that I have used for several years; I have also owned a Yaesu 817 that I traded several years ago for the Omni-D. Owning a Ten-Tec created very high expectations for any new purchase, and the Eagle meets those high expectations.

The Eagle is large enough to be easy to use and small enough for portable work. I find the controls easy to use, with no frustration at mistakes or hard to find menu items. The receiver is very comfortable to use for many hours at a time even during crowded contests. The AGC and Noise Reducer are particularly important in creating that comfort.

Using this radio is a very pleasant experience.
