Sales/Marketing Manager – Ham Radio

Job Summary: Responsible for planning and executing the North American sales strategy for TEN-TEC’s amateur (ham) radio product line.

Job Responsibilities:

Direct sales

  • Proactively seek out sales opportunities, expand customer base, and cultivate and nurture relationships with ham radio customers.
  • Serve as customer and prospect interface manager, communicating in person or via telephone or email.
  • Assess customer needs and determine the best TEN-TEC products and services to meet those needs
  • Prepare sales quotes, as needed; enter orders; and coordinate customer support
  • Work with TEN-TEC staff to ensure successful execution of sales orders/contracts and follow through with customers to ensure satisfaction and loyalty
  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date relationship management database for customers and prospects
  • Provide forecasts, monthly activity reports, sales reports and other documentation, as requested.

Customer relations

  • Develop and manage initiatives to enhance customer relations and uphold corporate image and reputation
  • Manage Ambassadors (referral) program
  • Manage loaner equipment.
  • Produce regular newsletters and social media communiqués (blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Gather testimonials and “success stories” for marketing purposes
  • Solicit customer feedback and serve as a conduit of this information for product development.

Marketing & Advertising

  • Develop short-term and long-term marketing/sales strategies to maximize sales revenues and meet defined objectives
  • Plan and coordinate TEN-TEC’s participation in trade shows, ham fests, ham clubs and other networking events by hosting, sponsoring, exhibiting, serving as a speaker, and/or demonstrating products.
  • Develop and implement TEN-TEC advertising program, including consistent e-mail marketing campaigns.

Market Research & Product Development

  • Conduct market opportunity analysis to acquire in-depth knowledge of applicable markets and product line.
  • Conduct competitive analyses.
  • Identify potential growth areas and business trends.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as service, engineering, and operations to provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  •  General Class or above Amateur Radio license required.
  • Sales and marketing experience required. Technical sales experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but prior experience in technical sales and marketing will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must be technically minded and a quick learner, able to rapidly get up to speed on TEN-TEC product line and the needs and characteristics of the ham market. Must be able to demonstrate the products and “walk the talk.”
  • Self-motivated, proactive, enthusiastic, and driven to achieve sales targets.
  • Confident in customer-facing role, with excellent customer service, communications, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable as a public speaker.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, able to prioritize demands.
  • Eager to learn and continuously develop professional skills.
  • Must be willing to adapt to change with a positive mindset and spirit of teamwork.
  • Good computer skills (Fluent with Word, Excel, Internet and social media platforms, and able to learn a variety of software programs and web-based tools).
  • Committed to representing TEN-TEC with utmost integrity, professionalism and courtesy.

Location: TEN-TEC headquarters is in Sevierville, TN. Sales manager may work on site or remotely in a home office, but he/she will be expected to attend meetings in Sevierville on a regular basis. Additional travel required.

Compensation: Wages negotiable and commensurate with experience. Position is full-time with benefits.
