  1. New improvements to RX-366

Posted by Kirby, K7EC on 10th Nov 2012

Jack and John Henry have come up with a method to restore the majority of the AM Broadcast band(above about 600khz)to the RX366 sub receiver option for the Orion radios. This will work so long as you are not surrounded by 50 kw monster AM broadcast stations. The fix lets the RX366 ork better than the standard sub rx because it has a 12 db preamp which can be used to amplify weak AM signals!! Another HOME RUN BY JACK BURCHFIELD AND JOHN HENRY!!!!!!

During contests, the original sub receiver of the Orions was occasionally overwhelmed by large numbers of close-in strong signals. The Orion's excellent reputation was at stake, so Ten Tec designed a really good sub receiver for the contesters to use and the rest of us get the benefit of it as well. It is so good that you actually have to look to see which receiver you are using. It is easy to install,no soldering, and really improves the radios performance on the ham bands. It is not designed to work on the AM Broadcast band, and I recommend getting a seperate am receiver for this type of listening. I put the rx 366 in both of my Orion IIs and they are a great improvement!!Highly Recommended!!
