  1. no stand

this is a really nice mic for the money but it doesn't come with a stand although the catalog picture show a mic stand so I was disappointed. Either make it clear there is no mic stand and change the picture or send me the stand that is pictured

  2. Great sounding audio

Posted by Bob, K4TAX on 22nd Dec 2012

I started using this mike with my Omni VII and immediately received "great audio" reports. I work very close { ~1"} to the mike face and "on axis". It is mounted on a desk boom for easy use and easy to push out of the way when not being used. The slide PTT switch on the side is quiet and does not add any noise or clicks when operated. I find this is a unidirectional mike an not omni directional as listed in the literature. That means any noise from the back side, being amp fans, computer or such is not being picked up and transmitted with the audio. The TX EQ is set to 0 dB with a TX BW of 2600 Hz and a TX Roll Off at 100 Hz. I normally run the Speech Processor at 40%.

Later I purchased a 2nd 709A to use with the 599 Eagle. Again, "great audio" reports. With this radio I run the Speech Processor at #4.

The mike provides plenty of punch with a well rounded voice sound.

  3. Great mic for TT and others.

I have had the 709A for about 3 years now. Great reports on TT Jupiter and Yeasu rigs.
I had a $180 mic and switched back and forth to the 709A. Other stations cound not tell the difference. Sold the $180.

  4. Good Results

I am a new ham, this is my first table top mike, I have had no problems with this equipment. It was included with the Eagle I purchased. My voice sounds like me, and I receive good signal reports using this. I do set the speech setting at "9" and the mic setting at 73
